Man, 27, Killed In Jersey Shore Shooting: Prosecutor

A 27-year-old man from Asbury Park was killed in a shooting last week, authorities said.

The victim has been identified as Derek L. Bussey, according to  Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

Shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, members of the Asbury Park Police Department responded to Atkins Avenue between Adams Street and Boston Way on a report of a shooting, Santiago said. There they found Bussey, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Bussey was taken  to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on Thursday, Aug. 10.

A joint investigation by members of the Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department is continuing.
